Raspberry and Cream BOM {Block 3}

Hi there! Today I am ready to share my third block for the Raspberry and Cream Block of the Month!!

Birds in the Air:

NOTE:

These patterns are not "free", so you will need to purchase a kit to receive the fabric + patterns.  The Raspberry & Cream BOM was designed & written by Marsha McCloskey.  We are simply sharing our progress and giving a few tips on completing your blocks as you sew along using your purchased pattern.

For this block you will need to use fabrics A, E, and C from your Blocks Kit:

If you purchased the Precision Trimmer 3 Ruler - this is where you will use it.  It took me a minute to figure this out ;) but once I did - it was easy peasy!  Line up the bold line on the long side of your triangle and the dotted center line to the bottom of the triangle and trim off the little corner.

You will do this to both sides of eight of the A triangles.  The other 4 triangles are used for your half square triangle units and will not be trimmed!

Once you sew up your half square triangle units - I trimmed mine down so they were nice and square! Lay our your A Triangles with your half square triangle like this:

Sew both triangles on and then you will add your large C triangle.  I also trimmed the C triangle with the Precision Trimmer ruler.

Make four units and layout in a pinwheel pattern and then sew together!

That's it! I enjoyed making this block.  I also enjoyed learning how to use the ruler and it did help line up this triangle pieces!  I also didn't lose any points in those small pink triangles - and I think using the ruler helped with that.  I am looking forward to using it again!

Your blocks should measure 9.5" x 9.5" unfinished.  The best way to ensure you get that is to use a 1/4" presser foot!

We still have a few kits left  - here is a list of all the supplies needed with the links for purchasing:

To complete this quilt you will need:
  1. Blocks Kit (for 12 center blocks)
  2. Setting & Finishing Kit (includes border blocks, borders, binding)
Suggested tools (I will be using these)
  1. Bias Square Plus Ruler
  2. Precision Trimmer 3

You'll need to purchase separately, 5.625 yards (44" wide) or 2.5 yards (108" wide) backing. You can find all the Raspberry and Cream fabrics HERE
